This is book one of a series that I really enjoyed. The father of many adopted children meets a woman running from a very undesirable arranged marriage. Further books in the series follow the courting and romances of the adopted sons as they grow up

I think this book is a great offering from this imprint. The Hero, Jonas, is one of the most likeable, sweet, male leads I've read in a romance of any genre in a long time. Jonas may not be an Alpha but he's not weak either, he's just himself, and not trying to fit into a manly stereotype of what he should be, probably because of the lack of male and female role models during his upbringing. He definitely stole the show in this book- well he and his crew of children but most especially him. Penny is also a good heroine, but she's one that definitely grows on you, rather than being instantly likeable.Criticism-wise, this book loses a bit for me because of the rapid character switches in Penny, Sam and their parents. I think the character dynamics in the Castlerock family were set up one way and then ended up being inexplicably different. That said, this wasn't major enough an issue to disrupt my enjoyment of the book. It was just a little jarring for Penny to go from spoiled and whiny about clothes to happily making homespun dresses and wearing them herself within pages without any link being made. This was just my minor pet peeve.I've been reading a lot of clean and Christian fiction lately. This certainly fits into that category. There's some kissing and G-rated embraces in this but nothing at all salacious. There is an underlying Christian tone to the book BUT I wouldn't go as far as to say this is a Christian romance. It's inspirational as labelled. The characters' faith is more reflective and a motivation for action than a plot point in the book. I HIGHLY recommend this very sweet book.

I had read a later book in this series and was curious to see how a socialite came to be on the homestead. I was not disappointed!! The story is of hardships, compassion, mystery, fun times, and family love. I admired Jonas from the start and was delighted they ended up together even with setbacks. Penny became a strong independent woman with such love and compassion that I had to love her too. A great clean read especially for those who like this time in history.

A,very interesting,story. Penny needed to get away from an unwanted suiter, when Jonas arrived with the letter from her grandfather. She convinced him to take ber and her brother Sam back with him. Even though she was used to the finest things, she was drawn to Jonas and his ragtag family. A great story with a lot of unusual developments. I would definitely give it 5 stars

I've read a lot of romances, but this has to have been one of the sweetest stories I've had the pleasure of reading. I was a little impatient with how low the hero's self-esteem seemed to be at timems, but really was a sweet storyline. I forgave the author when the ending got so exciting. You had to like the hero and frankly I'm trying to figure out why one of the reviews said Penny came across in a negative way. Except for the dress scene I didn't see it all. Really developed nicely and kept the pages turning, which is a big complitment because usually I like some suspense in a book to keep me interested. Just a delightful tale and worth your money. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I liked this book because of the children. Childhood is an important part of the people we become. Each child hashis own personality and potential. Even though you know the eventual outcome it was interesting to follow thejourney and the input of the children.

I really enjoyed reading this book about a farmer with 8 adopted kids. He falls in love with a girl whom he thinks could never love him. This book has humor, romance and a touch of suspense. I love to read books in this time period.

I loved the unraveling romance between Penny, a rich young woman who wanted a marriage like her grandparents, and Jonas,the poor unmarried farmer with 8 adopted children. The book was an easy read with humorous incidents involving Jonas' children and a few threatening occurrences involving a wealthy admirer of Penny. As Jonas and Penny feel the tug of attraction, the courtship takes on a special view as it unfolds in front of the children and her grandfather. It's a cute, cute story set in Wyoming farmland. I recommend it highly for a light, loving, and enjoyable read!
