This portion of our Bible [the first 5 books/Torah] is 'undertaught' as a whole. We get taught some stories, some sound bites, but not actually 'Torah.' Even the word Torah is 'undertaught'. It may be a Hebrew word, but it is more than you ever thought it is. This volume is the best foundational book to begin to learn what the first five books of the Bible [Torah] are intended to teach us. We tend to skip over Leviticus and Numbers...we take promises from Deuteronomy without context. Get it all together here in this BEKY book!

I bought this book for family and friends who might want a simple explanation as to what the Torah is, but I walked away with a few hidden gems as well. I loved the chapter on the Spirit, Soul, and Body and her reflection on a Torah scroll and how we are walking testimonies. I would recommend this easy read for those searching for more.

I really liked the explanations of not only what the Torah is, but how to see the same things expressed in different ways (equivalent expressions) throughout Scripture. This book goes beyond answering What is the Torah?... and is written in a way that one can comprehend. Well worth the price.

I thought this was just a description of what the Jewish Torah is, but it has way more than that. It beautifully knits together the Old Testament and the New Testament in ways I never thought about, but the author uses accepted rules taught in seminaries to demonstrate how awesomely God-breathed the WHOLE Word of God is, from Torah to the Book of Revelation. I never expected to have prophecy explained in such a small booklet, so when I read the part about the white horse of Revelation, was it a pleasant surprise. This belongs in every church library.

Wanted a simple explanation for my friends and family just coming into the search for a deeper relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I wanted a short read that could be read in a day. De. Alewine's teaching skills are well known to be concise yet thorough. I bought about 15 and will continue to use this book as a starter for the question: Why the Torah! I have. I doubt that you will find the same thing! Shalom
